For the past several years, PV Prep has seen an overwhelmingly strong preference for the ACT.
However, preferences are beginning to even out for a few reasons:
-With the re-designed SAT now in place for over a year, it is more of a known quantity.
-The re-designed SAT is more comparable to the ACT as it now features no penalty for guessing, four answer choices (save for Grid-Ins), and similar Reading & English/Writing sections.
-The re-designed SAT (as with the old SAT) does not have a Science section.
So, what is the best way to choose?
First, a student should take both a pre-ACT and a PSAT and compare results.
Another major factor to consider is how a student did on the Science section of the ACT. If the score is higher than other sections, perhaps the ACT is the best route. If it is lower, perhaps the SAT is best.
